Large Waterfeature Renovation And New Construction
Client: Pulte Homes, Celebrate Virginia
Landscape Architect: Garrett Baker CLA, HLD. and LandDesign
Project Scope: Renovation of existing basaltic water feature, landscape, irrigation, dry creek bed, artificial putting green, setting of basaltic columns, installation of pond less basaltic water feature.
Installation Date: Spring 2008 (HLD), 10 weeks
Description: Collaboration by HLD, LandDesign and Pulte Homes allowed for HLD to construct various elements of the Pulte Homes Marketing Center at the Celebrate Virginia development project. A unique combination of basaltic columns, both wet and dry hydraulic elements and lighting complemented the Marketing Center grounds. The other aspects included the renovation of a 10,000 square foot non-operational waterfeature that was updated and brought online. HLD handled construction drawings, implementation of plumbing, electrical, irrigation system, lighting, landscaping. Budget: $276,000.00 |
University Plaza
Client: J. E. Jamerson, Radford University, Muse Hall
Landscape Architect: Hill Studio
Project Scope: Installation of bluestone, concrete pavers, CU Soil, trellis and water fountain
Installation Date: Summer 2007 (HLD), 8 weeks
Description: Installation of over 3,000 sq. ft. of concrete pavers, 1,600 sq. ft. of bluestone patio, lions head water fountain head with reflecting pool, installation of CU Soil for urban streetscape planting and weathered trellis structure. The intermixing of materials and the design layout make this courtyard space viable, aesthetic and tremendously functional.

Residential Site Renovation

Project Scope: Stone Masonry, Walls, Outdoor lighting, Mass grading, Sod, Stamped concrete driveway (2,000 sq. ft) and a Water feature.
Description: Dealing with many site constraints, HLD work through a thorough design / build process to introduce elements to the clients property that didn’t seem possible. The superior design solutions and construction methods exemplified the possibilities of how a site can become something more.

Virginia Tech University
Client: Virginia Tech University
Landscape Architect: Haseay, Mattern & Mattern
Projects: Alumni Hall, Baseball Field Seating
Description: Installation of over 24,000 sq. ft. of dry laid concrete pavers. The pavers were set on a combination of asphalt and concrete pending vehicular or pedestrian usage. Landscape installation consisted of planting over 250 trees, 750 shrubs and 3,000 perennials. Baseball field expansions included the creation of terraced seating.

Hardscape Project
Landscape Architect: Four Winds Landscape Design, Drew Harrigan
Project Scope: Dry laid concrete pavers and natural stone walls
Description: Removal of existing concrete (stamped) for driveway, walkway and patio around pool. Re-installation of dry laid concrete pavers (2 piece, I pattern) with solder course. Bull nose cap placed around perimeter of pool with veneered stone steps. Approximately 8,500 sq. ft. installed.
Budget: $175,000.00 |
