HLD retains and acquires an exceptional employee base. We understand that in order to maintain our quality of service and construction, it is imperative to maintain a highly qualified work force.

Nathaniel C. Haile Nathaniel began the HLD vision in 1993 starting with landscape property maintenance as a freshman in high school. Through guidance and mentoring by his grandfather, Nathaniel received his bachelor degree in landscape architecture from Virginia Tech in 2001. During his college years, Nathaniel expanded the services offered by HLD to incorporate knowledge gained from his grandfather and in the classroom to become a complete design/build landscape firm incorporating in 1998. Today Nathaniel oversees day to day operations with an emphasis on customer service and commercial landscape applications.

Garrett Baker CLA Garrett is the lead designer for the company and enjoys many outdoor pursuits. As a certified LAR, he executes many facets of our commercial and residential design and typically oversees the construction of such design projects.

Jessica Roop Jess is our human resource and office manager. She is the glue that keeps the company together by maintaining our Blacksburg office.

Colby Eyler Colby or “shop boss” is a lead project manager overseeing daily construction and shop yard operations.

Nathan Ziggler Ziggy is our lead residential foreman executing the construction of many premier residential landscape projects.

Jonathan Grimes Currently balancing work and attaining his degree from Virginia Tech, Jonathan is developing into a project foreman.

The Crews Typically HLD operates with 4 crews daily varying in size from 2 to 8 men.
